Cargo TexasLash Mascara

This is the last product from new-to-me brand Cargo that I received at the Wizard Publicity Event to review for you. I have received quite a few mascaras to trial recently but I only like to have one on the go at any time so that they don’t dry up. When I finished my MaxFactor 2000 Calorie Mascara recently, I dipped my hand into my yet-to-try products and pulled out this baby. Without doing much research, I started using it straight away.

My first impression was that the wand is HUGE. Not only that but it is very long too. I love a good thick wand (please never quote me on that!) as usually they mean you will get tonnes of volume so I was excited to give this a go.

As you can see from these before and after photos – the mascara did more for the length of my lashes than the volume.

In all, I was a little underwhelmed. It is lovely and black and does add a little length but it is volume I seek and it just doesn’t deliver. Lately I have realised how hard it is to please me when it comes to mascara though so if it is length you’re after, this could be for you!

After wearing it for a few days, I realised how difficult it was to remove at night. It seemed to migrate around my face in little clumps rather than simply dissipate. It then struck me to look it up and my suspicions were revealed – this is a tubing mascara. For those who don’t know, tubing mascaras claim to coat your lashes in…well, tubes to add luscious volume and length. They are notoriously difficult to remove – seemingly you should use warm water and gently hold a cotton pad to your lashes to allow the tubes to slide off. This is a lot of work for me as I am a very lazy person and so for this reason, I have been going to bed most nights still wearing this mascara and waking up the following morning with panda eyes.

I always thought I liked the idea of tubing mascaras but this is my first experience with one and while the inconvenience of removal is something I could suffer if the mascara was mind blowing, this is a lot of work for little result.

Also with the brush being so large, I find myself prone to blobbing it under my eye or on my eyelid or actually just anywhere on my face and it will just NOT COME OFF in cases like that so I am left with blobby-face for the rest of the day. Not a good look.

In all, TexasLash did not wow me and is a rather inconvenient mascara. If you are still interested in the brand, I had better luck with their bronzer but not so much luck with their eye liner. I would still be interested in trying more from them though – I haven’t written them off just yet.

What do you think? Have you tried anything from Cargo Cosmetics? Have you ever used a tubing mascara before? What was your experience?
